Putting God First

Hey guys, sorry to those who follow this blog, I haven’t written a blog in quite some time now becuase I have been diligently working on my exegetical paper for the past month, that I turned in Monday by the way. I don’t want to bore anyone, but my paper was on the passage of Colossians 1:24-2:3.

The main theme without going to in depth, as I had to in my 29 page paper, is that Paul was writing to the Colossian church because he received word that false teaching had enter into the church’s teachings.
So many times we allow modern day philosophy of doing things to enter into church or even allow old ways of doing things to keep us busy and ultimately happy with what is going on.

Do we ever stop to think, “Do we love our method more than we love God?”

In James chapter two, James is showing that not just faith but works must be evident in the lives of Christians to really be more than just the name= CHRISTIAN

Read this…

14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?
He goes on to say…

“You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

He also says that even evil believes there is a God, that it is more than knowing…

24You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.

Christians must have fruit in their lives to be more than just a nominal Christian…God has his children to so much more. So go all out for him and be intentional with what you do for Him.

  1. 29 pages is awesome, Josh!! I’ve never had that many thoughts on one topic in my life!! 🙂 Seriously I know you did a great job on your paper and I liked what you shared here, especially about going all our for our God!! Great goal for all of us!!
