What is Worship- Guest Blog Series

What is Worship? Is it Being Passionate, living with Urgency, Vulnerable, a Priority, Lift High the name of God, Humble, Extravagantly Loving Him?

“Worship is what we do” is a sermon I using Wednesday Night and this subject has been on my heart the past few weeks rolling over from a summer of learning and being in awe of God.

These Questions lead me to start a series of guest blogs by some college students that understand what woshipping is.

Here are some quick points on Worship:

Worship- may on occasion refer to an attitude towards someone of immensely elevated social status. Giving worth to something. In its older sense in English of worthiness or respect

Religion- Latin “religio” meaning “fear” or “awe” Religion is also often described as a “way of life” or a life stance, lifestyle is the way a person lives .

Awe=is an emotion comparable to wonder, more fearful or respectful.

Destroying what means most to you (you proirty or idol) to allow Jesus to mean more. Give it up for something better. Christ won’t ask you to give up something that he won’t replace with something better, an upgrade.

Don’t offer to God what cost you nothing -Feeding left overs to a Holy God. No leftovers!

Don’t think that you you are doing God a favor by worshipping him…

Before we get this series off and running i want to leave you with some quotes by A.W. Tozer.
“Christians don’t tell lies; they just go to church and sing them.”
“Worship is to feel in your heart…a humbling but delightful sense of admiring awe and astonished wonder and overpowering love in the presence of…Our Father Which Are in Heaven.”

I’m excited to see change in the lives of God’s people if the will humble themselves and pray. Now go Worship him in the most intimate way you ever have! Really Go Do It!

  1. We had 105 students present Wednesday Night as we worshipped God “in spirit and in truth.” God is amazing and deserves all the glory.
